A gallery exhibition bringing together established artists, emerging voices and public submissions inspired by the energy surrounding Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign.

Creativity became part of the movement.
Manifest Hope brought visual artists, designers and makers together around a large-scale gallery presentation in Denver during the 2008 Democratic National Convention. The project combined commissioned work with an open art contest and showcased both established and emerging creative voices.
The exhibition featured political and cultural artwork across painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture and mixed media. Public submissions were reviewed alongside work by artists already active in contemporary, street and design culture.

The Washington, D.C. edition continued the project during the days immediately preceding the presidential inauguration. Artists and activists focused creative attention on three themes tied to the public conversation at the time.
The gallery was open to the public at 3333 M Street NW in Washington, D.C., with exhibition management provided by Irvine Contemporary.

Manifest Hope invited members of the public to submit original 2D and 3D artwork. Selected works were presented alongside established artists in the physical gallery exhibitions.

Manifest Hope drew artists from street art, illustration, contemporary art and design. Period coverage highlighted names including Shepard Fairey, Ron English, David Choe, Gary Baseman, Sam Flores, Ray Noland and The Date Farmers.
